Our Story

My husband Jeff and I purchased our country orchard home in Green Bluff in 1998. I was born and raised in Denver, so I was not so sure about living so far away from “civilization”. Jeff was raised on a farm in Iowa and was looking forward to raising our family in the country, so I thought I would give this farming life a chance. The house and orchard needed a lot of repair, but we were up for the job. With the help of family, we gutted the house and lovingly put it back together. Our wonderful farmer neighbors helped us determine what trees could be saved and what had to be taken out. We pulled out 300 apple, apricot, peach and cherry trees and then over the next 17 years, we planted many more cherry, apricot, peach and plum trees. We have also planted about 2000 raspberry bushes.

We built a beautiful, big red barn in 2010. With this new space we were able to open a vintage market. Our market offers a variety of home goods: cherry pitters, kitchen items, cookbooks, farmhouse decorations and other things- all handmade or vintage. Each year we add new items from a variety of local vendors.

We want our orchard to be a place the whole family can enjoy. You and your children can swing on an old fashioned schoolhouse swing, take pictures at our photo station and visit our farm animals. Our farm animals include Mavis, a miniature donkey, Harvey the goat, dogs Bingo, Tilly and Libby, a cat, chickens and ducks.

We are a family-operated orchard. Jeff and I, along with our three children have planted, pruned, hauled, thinned, watered, fertilized, picked and sold our fruit for the last 17 years. All this work has paid for our children’s education, from elementary all the way into college. We live in the middle of our orchard – this is our home. Our children, friends and family play and eat the fruit from our orchard, so it is very important to us how we spray and care for our fruit. We believe in environmentally friendly practices to sustain our orchard and our lives.

I can now say that I am so blessed to have raised our family in this country orchard home. I have fallen in love with this beautiful community called Green Bluff and the many customers we have had the pleasure of meeting through the years. Our hope is that when you visit Cherry Hill Orchard & Market, you feel welcome and enjoy a relaxing day in the country.

About Our Fruit

Cherry Hill uses modern, environmentally friendly growing practices to protect our fruit and help preserve our precious Green Bluff soil. In addition, we trim our Cherry and Peach trees low so you can pick your own fruit easily.

At Cherry Hill, in order to ensure that our Cherries stay fresh as long as possible, we do not pre-pick Cherries in bulk. We do try to keep a small amount of pre-picked Cherries on hand, but cannot guarantee in-store availability. If you would like some Cherries but either don’t want to pick or simply don’t have the time to pick your own Cherries, please call ahead and place an order. Calling in an order is a great way to make sure you can get fresh, local Cherries for your weekend get-togethers, outings or canning.
